OUTDOOR

If you take a walk in the woods and come across a long bearded man chilling in a hammock, then it is probably Henrik!

Besides being a hammock enthusiast, Henrik does all sorts of outdoor camping in tents, shelters, under the stars, you name it. He finds all the most beautiful camp spots in Denmark and shares the pictures with the Danish outdoor community on Instagram. If you scroll through his feed you will quickly notice that Henrik has collected a lot of gear over the years, like A LOT. He is a true gear-nerd and his collection of tents, hammocks, cooking gear, knives, and axes is probably any outdoor man or woman’s dream.

If you love awesome camps, gear, and juicy bacon cooked over the fire, head over to Instagram and give Henrik a follow.

“I always look forward to the next season coming, but if I had to choose it would be winter time with a lot of snow.”

Q&A

Q:

When did you begin outdoor camping?

A:

I was a scout for 10 years as a kid. So when my son joined the same scout troop, and even with the same scout leader as I had as a kid, I realized how much I missed the outdoors. Sleeping outside, cooking over a campfire, hiking, and just spending time outside.

Q:

What is your favourite way to camp?

A:

I love sleeping in my hammock, but I am always curious about trying new ways of sleeping outside. In the winter time hot tent camping is amazing!

Q:

Do you have a favourite camp spot?

A:

Sweden definitely has some of the coolest places to camp, but in Denmark the Silkeborg area is my favourite.

Q:

The perfect campfire meal?

A:

A whole chicken on a stick, slowly roasted over the fire, with rice, vegetables, and bacon on the side.

Q:

Your favourite piece of gear?

A:

Oh that’s a tough one. I think it would be an axe, as I love splitting firewood for a campfire.

Q:

 Summer or winter?

A:

I always look forward to the next season coming, but if I had to choose it would be winter time with a lot of snow.

Q:

3 things you never go camping without?

A:

A knife, a headlamp, and of course my coffee kettle.

Q:

A piece of advice to people who want to start outdoor camping?

A:

Don’t start breaking the bank buying tons of gear. Borrow the essentials if you can, and head for the nearest camp ground. You can experiment with making a campfire, cooking, and sleep there if you like, if something doesn’t go according to plan you don’t have a long way home.

Q:

How do you use portable lighting in your outdoor life?

A:

I always bring a headlamp when I go camping, and sometimes also a flashlight. If I camp in tent or shelter, I always bring more light with me.

Q:

Do you have a favourite Suprabeam light or accessory?

A:

I have been using the M6xr for a couple of years, and it is definitely my favourite Suprabeam product.
