Claus Andersen

HUNTER      PHOTOGRAPHER

Claus is a hunter by heart, and for all the right reasons. He is not hunting to get a pair of antlers for the living room, but to put sustainable meat which have had a good and long life in nature, on the table for his small family. Claus is a great chef as well, and is meticulous about preparing the game meat the best way possible. It comes natural to him to really put an effort into the meal when he is the one who pulled the trigger, let the arrow fly, or hauled in the fish.

A true outdoorsman with his heart in the right place.

Besides hunting Claus is an avid photographer and his two hobbies often mix, which you can tell by the pictures he have provided for this page.

“If ever in doubt about pulling the trigger, then don’t. Just enjoy the view.”

Q&A

Q:

Where is your favourite place to hunt?

A:

It must be sitting in a forrest and enjoying all the different sounds and smells. Combined with fresh warm weather and a rifle that’s definitely my absolute favorite place to hunt.

Q:

Do you have a hero or idol?

A:

My dad. The old man that taught me how to enjoy nature and wildlife. He doesn’t hunt, but started taking me out fishing from from when I was 4 years old, and since then it has been our thing. I don’t got any idols, but I do have a lot of people who inspire me. Friends, colleagues, photographers and hunters. They know who they are.

Q:

What is your favourite hunting type?

A:

My favorite is a spot and stalk with my rifle over my shoulder; but I’m often alone doing this. If being out with friends a good solid roughshoot is definetly top notch.

Q:

Tell us about your best hunting experience

A:

It was a Friday evening together with 3 of my very good friends. I was the only one with a hunting license. We had a full weekend planned with outdoor living and campfires. At the first day two hours after arrival I shot my very first buck. It was witnessed by all of them. The meat was enjoyed later that evening around the campfire. The memory and trophy is now on my wall in my living room.

Q:

Why is sustainable hunting so important?

A:

Nature have a incredible amount of resources that are not being used in our daily life. I would rather eat meat I’ve hunted myself than meat from a vacuum sealed box in the supermarket. I know where my food comes from, I know it had a free life full of free choices until it ended in my freezer. We as hunters have an ethical code to follow which means that we don’t need to take more than we can use, and we have to strive to always take out the weak animal with poor genetics. In that way we keep our numbers healthy.

Q:

Is there any animal you dream about hunting?

A:

My absolute dream is to hunt a Himalayan Thar in New Zealand. It is an incredible mountain goat who climbs places we can’t even imagine. They are majestic animals and In good numbers.

Q:

Which is your favourite animal to eat?

A:

I can’t choose. I just love all of them.

Q:

Do you have any preferred cooking method for game meat?

A:

Campfire is always a winner. But when that’s impossible the grill is definetly my go-to. A solid backstrap on the bone got my mouth dripping any time.

Q:

How do you use portable lighting in your hunting and outdoor life?

A:

I use my lights quite a lot. 9/10 of my animals are harvested at the very last hours of the day which means that there is not much light when butchering it. My headlamp helps me quite a lot with that part. I have it with my all the time when being outdoors.

Q:

Do you have a favourite Suprabeam light or accessory?

A:

Must be my Suprabeam V3pro rechargeable with the bulb attached. The bulb is amazing in camp, tent or shelters and gives an insanely amount of light. The V3pro rechargeable is my overall go to lamp when it comes to outdoor life.
